Modelling and Animation New Brief

Advanced Modelling and Animation Brief
Richie Enticknap 100114642

Brief:

For this module I originally wanted to create a couple of models and have the majority of the brief filled with animation work. However, once I began modelling images for the scene I decided that I really do not want to be a modeller in the industry and have decided to focus this module entirely on Animation. So this new brief has a few adjustments!
For this module I want to demonstrate my animation skills and in turn learn some new techniques and strengthening my understanding. For this I am going to do some basic demonstrations of animation principles from concept to final creation. These will involve a push and pull animation, a walk cycle, a lip syncing facial demonstration and 1 or 2 brief shorts. I researched into some animation show reels and these are the running theme in most of them!
I will be doing all of my animation using Maya 2012 (Autodesk), Photoshop (Adobe) and after effects (for rendering purposes). This project will adhere to all university rules and regulations.

Action Plan – What do I need to achieve?
·        Find strong references from TV, Film and other media
·        Research show reels to find any strong examples as a guideline
·        Read some animation books to grasp a better understanding
·        Use books to study anatomy and muscle groups (Grey’s anatomy)
·        Create some small concept diagrams with some basic timings for the shorts
·        Create block outs
·        Find relevant speech clips to use for lip synching/facial demonstration
·        Plan and Set interesting camera angles for scenes to become the most effective
·        Create final renders in after effects
·        Put together into a show reel

Deliverables
Ø  1 x push and pull animation (Same scene)
Ø  1 x lip sync/facial animation short
Ø  1 x short walk cycle
Ø  1 x Animation short (11-20 seconds long)

Marking percentage
Push/Pull animation: 20%
Lip Sync: 20%
Walk Cycle: 20%
Animation Short: 40%

This Gannt chart is a revised version of the previous briefs Chart. I have focused the majority of this modules work under the section “semester 2”

This Year in AMA

This year we have been given the assignment to basically do what we wish and create our own brief. I am in two minds as to what i want to create for this module. I am not the strongest modeller and i am very interested in animation so i am definatly leaning towards the latter for the project!

I dont want to be recieved as a one trick pony so i am in two minds as to what to use in my brief for the remainder of the year. I will do some research into what parts of my chosen practices i am most interested in and will most likely create a brief utilizing this!
